What I Wish I Knew Before Starting College
Hello lovely,
Starting college is such an exciting chapter, but there are so many little things I wish someone had told me before stepping onto campus. Here are a few things I wish I’d known (or done better).
Class is an excuse to dress up. You’re in class almost every day, so take it as a chance to play with your personal style and try new outfits, even if it’s just adding a cute accessory to your usual jeans and tee.

Dorm decor matters more than you think. Investing in cozy bedding, cute throw pillows, and a few decor pieces really does make your dorm feel like your own space, and it makes those late-night study sessions way more comfortable.
Get an internship while you’re in school. It’s the best way to build your resume and get experience before graduating, and it helps you figure out what you actually like (or don’t like) before jumping into post-grad life.

Invest in a practical school bag. I went for the chic work tote but quickly realized a good backpack was way better for carrying my laptop and snacks across campus. Look for something cute and functional—it makes a difference.

Comfortable shoes are everything. You’ll be walking more than you think—to class, campus events, coffee runs—so a pair of comfy, cute sneakers will save your feet and still look good with your outfits.
Find what works for you. Once you’re on campus, you’ll figure out what schedule, routines, and pace feel best for you. Don’t force what everyone else is doing—do what feels right for you.
