What was your initial reaction when you found out you won the competition to go to the Maldives?
Our initial reaction reaction was pure shock. I couldn't believe that we made it to the top 10, let alone winning it. It felt like an absolute dream and privilege to not just have the opportunity to make the top 10, but to be picked. We were pinching ourselves, I still pinch myself even though the trip is over.
How did you and your friends prepare for the trip?
We were lucky that Hello Molly had put all the hard work in to have the whole trip planned and we had outfits sent to us ready to go. However, the group chat was non-stop until we reached the airport making sure we had all the essentials!
What was the most memorable moment of your time in the Maldives?
Our most memorable moment was when we got the signal for the manta rays. They don't come out very often and when the opportunity came we jumped on it. To have over 200, eight-meter rays swimming around you was breathtaking.
Can you share an interesting fact you learnt while in the Maldives?
I didn't realise that the Maldives consisted of multiple islands. I thought we landed straight into paradise we found out there are 1192 islands... unreal.
What was your favorite activity or experience during the trip?
My most favorite experience was when we opened the back door. It was honestly the most surreal feeling that we had actually won this.
What inspired the theme or concept for your video once you made it to the top 10?
Our inspiration came at the 11th hour we had made so many videos and they did not quite make the cut. It was getting late and we had made one of our poor mums drive us all over Sydney to find the ideal location. Bree had come up with the idea that we'd been told we were going to the Maldives and we had to pack our bags. It was giving manifestation.
How did you feel when submitting your entry, and did you expect to win?
We were honestly so nervous after we submitted it. We had no expectations and honestly, we were so appreciative that we had even been given the opportunity to make it this far. We felt like we were small-town girls compared to the other girls from worldwide locations.
Do you have any advice for our top 10 finalists this year?
Be yourselves, and enjoy the experience. Make sure you tell all your friends, family and your work! Anybody can have the chance to win this adventure but whatever the outcome, enjoy every moment of it, best of luck!
