The NYFW Runway Our Way
The New York Fashion Week always has us frothing over the clothes. However, people who live in the real world can rarely get away with a number of the lovably-loony looks paraded on the runway. So we’ve re-imagined some of the best trends we spotted to make them work in the real world.
Too Dramatic
Next time we’re at a ball, you can expect to see us in this inky Oscar De La Renta frock. But we’re a bit booked out of late, so have been unable to accept those white-tie event invitations that Prince Harry keeps sending us. Blast! Until we can, we’ll daydream in a moody frock that’s slightly tamer.
Tent Pants
Sometimes we look at the runways and think, “I would sell my friends before I’d wear that piece.” Then a few celebs step out in said trend and suddenly it’s like, “Hmm, they’re not so bad.” Fast forward to a year later and you want that item so bad you’re pasting price-stickers on your mates. Leg-engulfing culottes - as seen at Victoria Beckham - are one of those trends. They’re so big at the bottom they make your top half look positively tiny! Ensure you’re wearing it with a tight top like on our model so they don’t swamp you.
Full-body Blanket
Anna Sui's head-to-toe crochet is a tricky outfit to work because you may be mistaken for a tablecloth. But never fear! All you need to do to eliminate doily-comparisons is balance it out by showing a bit of skin. Try rocking this Coachella-friendly fabric by picking a dress that has just a touch of it.
Get Shirty
The chilly weather is coming and we’ve got to do something with all of our cute crop tops! Thakoon gave us a solution - make them into vests! Wear our Caramel Top Mint with the collar and cuff of a plain white man-shirt sticking out.
Or try updating a shirt dress like our Paper Trail Dress with our Dark Night Crop, a la Cher in Clueless.
